Society of Petroleum Geophysicists, India is actively engaged in
promoting the cause of Petroleum geoscientists in India. From time
to time, various activities like DISC & DLP programmes/workshops at
national and regional level and lectures by Indian & overseas domain
experts are being organized by the society to expose our
geoscientists to the latest industry trends. Our next biennial
International Conference & Exposition is scheduled to be held in
Kolkata during January, 2006.
Our
primary mode of communication with all the society members is “Geohorizons”,
the half-yearly journal of the SPG and the “SPG Newsletter”.
It is our constant endeavor to maintain high standards of these
publications by inviting contributions from domain experts from your
geophysical seismic companies, by way of technical papers/articles
updates on technology.
You are therefore requested to take personal interest in getting
regular contribution for these publications. The next issue of
“Geohorizons” is due for publication in 1st week of January-2005.

Call for Nominations for
Continuing Education Faculty for Asia Pacific Region
During the 74th Annual Conference of SEG at Denver, USA, a meeting
was held between the representatives of SPG, India and SEG to
deliberate over various issues. It was decided in the meeting that
SEG would consider nominating domain experts from SPG, India for
delivering continuing education programme in Asia Pacific Region in
various streams of geophysics.
In order to short-list the names of the domain experts for
consideration of SEG, you are requested to send not more than 3
(three) nominations from your chapter preferably representing the
different streams of geophysical exploration. The nominations
received shall be reviewed by a committee constituted by President,
SPG, India for final short-listing. The format for submitting the
details is enclosed.
Kindly ensure that the nominations are received by this office
latest by 15th December, 2004 so that the same may be scrutinized by
the committee for short-listing.
In case no nomination is received by 15th December, 2004 from any of
the regional chapters it shall be deemed as NIL report.
