Conference on Geophysical
Technology Held…
Institute of Management Development, ONGC
and Geophysical Services, ONGC successfully
organised a two day conference CGT 2003:
Discovery to Recovery at Dehradun on 25-26
Feb 2003. During this pan - ONGC conference,
geoscientists from basins, assets and geophysical
service centres interacted with each other and
experts from leading international geophysical
solution providers to evolve strategies and
solutions for current exploration challenges in
various Indian basins.

Delhi on 15th Nov 2002. This was
attended by professionals and
academia. It was agreed that an SPG
Foundation be put in place with objectives to promote education,
research & development in the field of
petroleum geoscience in the country by
way of sponsoring projects, courses,
meets etc.

Field Crew Ambushed
A field crew of ONGC (GP 33) was ambushed on 24th June 2002 while returning from work. This attack occurred near Dhansiri railway station in Karbi Anglong district of Assam. Indiscriminate gunfire led to the death of Sh. Rajendra Prasad SG (S), Sh. R C Kakoty AE (Mech) of ONGC and S/Shri Barik, Jairam Timong, C R Hansa, Samsung and Ashok Chetri; all contract workers. Sh. Mithai Lal SG(S) ONGC was amongst several others seriously injured in the attack. (Assam Tribune and ONGC Reports)
