Speaking to the media, Mr Sinha recalled the earlier efforts made by ONGC in the Basin. The first well, Jabera-1 showed an uneconomical flow of gas, while Damoh drew a blank. However, these are not a deterrent to further exploration, since ONGC, as a National OIL Company has a moral and social obligation to harness all available hydrocarbon resources in the country. Mr. D.K. Pandey, Basin

Manager (Frontier Basin), explained that exploration started in Madhya Pradesh in the 1960’s with 15000 metres of drilling spread over four wells. Kharkari-1 well which is now under drilling has most parameters on its side to make news.
