Government of India has announced the National Mineral awards for the year 2001. SPG congratulates this year's awardees; names hereunder, for their excellent contribution to petroleum exploration in the country.

Congratulations again to Sh. P P Mitra who has been invited to serve as member Technical Committee at SPE Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition 2003 at Jakarta. He has been selected from amongst nominations from several countries. He has special interest in reservoir characterization studies.

SPG North American Section Inaugurated..

SPG now has a section in North America. Inaugurated on 26th Sept 2002, this is the first overseas section of SPG and is based at Houston USA. A meeting of this section chaired by President SPG, Sh Kharak Singh was held during 72nd SEG Conference at Salt Lake City. President SPG appreciated the will and intent of section members to contribute to SPG's publications and continuing education program. The office bearers of same are as below.

SPG Chennai Organisation Lectures..

Chennai Section of SPG arranged a technical presentation on 19 Sept 2002 at Taj Connemara Hotel. The talk entitled “Technical Advances in Acquisition & Processing” was delivered by Mr. Cameroon Astill, President Veritas DGC and Dr. Peter Whiting, Regional Processing Manager, Asia Pacific, Veritas DGC. Another presentation by Mr. Jérôme Lefebvre of M/S CGG, France on "Cluster Technology in Seisdata Processing" was organised on 5th Sept. (See pics.)
