SPG at PETROTECH 2009

This year two representatives of SPG, India viz: Mr. N.P. Singh, C.G(S) and Mr. Surjeet Singh, S.G(S), Frontier Basin, ONGC, Dehradun attended 8th International Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition (Petrotech 2009) at New Delhi during 11-15 January, 2009. SPG, India was offered a complementary booth at the said conference. SPG in the booth depicted its activities and aims to promote geophysics in India through various posters, journals etc. on the emerging technologies and other crucial E & P themes. SPG booth was visited by number of delegates, and lots of queries were raised on the role of SPG in promoting geosciences and securing hydrocarbons needs of the country. Visitors at the SPGs booth were keen to know about the developments and proceedings of SPG forthcoming conference SPG 2010. Overall it was an enriching experience for the SPG delegates to represent the society and be a part of such eminent gathering coming on a common platform to share the ideas.

78th Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) Conference and Exhibition was held at Las Vegas, NV, USA from Nov 9th.-14th. 2008. For the past 78 years, the SEG Annual Meeting has brought together Industry Leaders and Professionals from around the world to learn the latest application and techniques to better serve the world we live in. This year Society of Petroleum Geophysicists India (SPG India) was represented by its President Mr. Apurba Saha, R Majumdar, B K Medhi, S S Singh.

Distinguished Lecturer Programme (DLP 2008) by Dr. Bruce Hobbs, Head of Research, PGS EM

With the objective of disseminating knowledge and providing technical updates on emerging technologies, Society of Petroleum Geophysicists (SPG), India organized Distinguished Lecturer Programme (DLP 2008) with the support of European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), Netherlands on “Delineating and Monitoring Hydrocarbons Using the Multi-Transient Electromagnetic (MTEM) Method” by Dr. Bruce Hobbs, Head of Research, PGS EM on 22nd September, 2008 at Dehradun.

SPG NE-Chapter, Jorhat

Society of Petroleum Geophysicist, NE-Chapter, Jorhat in its effort to impart latest information on advances in the geophysics to geo-scientists, organized three lectures within a short span of four months. Petrotech 2007 provided the perfect launching pad for "Hyderabad 2008" the 7th International Conference and Exposition on Petroleum Geophysics, Jan 14-16, 2008 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), Hyderabad.

SPG at APG 2006

This year SPG, India representatives, namely: Mr. Pradeep Bailwal, Ms. Suman Sharma, Office Executives, SPG, India, and Mr. P. R. Balasubramaniam from Mumbai Chapter attended APGs 3rd International conference & Exposition during 22nd – 24th September, 2006 at Goa with the theme Exploring Exploration – Mind over Machine. SPG, India was offered a complementary booth at Goa 2006 conference.

SPG at ASEG 2006

2nd Australian Earth Sciences Convention (AESC 2006) organized by Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (ASEG), Australia held during 2-6 July 2006 at Melbourne, Australia was participated by Mr. M.B. Singh, Vice President, SPG, India and Mr. K. Sridhar, from Ahmedabad Chapter.

SPG at EAGE 2006

This year two of the SPG, India representatives, namely: Mr. Md. S. Akhtar Joint Secretary, SPG, India, and Mr. R. C. P. Saxena from Dehradun attended “68th European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE) Conference & Exhibition”, (VIENNA 2006) at Austria during 12-15 June, 2006. SPG, India being the associated society of EAGE, was also offered a complementary booth at “Madrid 2005” conference.

SPG at SEG 2006

The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), USA holds its annual meeting every year in one of the cities at USA. On this occasion international exposition and technology workshops/courses/oral and poster presentations are also organized on a wide scale. Various Oil exploration and service provider companies, Universities and Institutes engaged in geophysical research activities participate in this gala event.

This year two of the SPG, India representatives, namely: Mr. Dhanendra Jain, Treasurer, SPG, India, and Mr. Rahul Samrat Tandon from Jorhat Chapter attended 67th European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE) Conference & Exhibition, (MADRID 2005) at Spain during 13-16 June, 2005.

Call for Contribution of Articles for "SPG News Letter" & "Geohorizon" 

Society of Petroleum Geophysicists, India is actively engaged in promoting the cause of Petroleum geoscientists in India. From time to time, various activities like DISC & DLP programmes/workshops at national and regional level and lectures by Indian & overseas domain experts are being organized by the society to expose our geoscientists to the latest industry trends. Our next biennial International Conference & Exposition is scheduled to be held in Kolkata during January, 2006.

SPG in Petrotech 2005

SPG had a stall in the PETROTECH 2005 exhibition in Pragati Maidan,New Delhi. Many known and unknown visitors and members have shown interest in the expanding activities of the SPG and have given many feedbacks.
